On 9th June 2023, liberals and Islamists in Delhi organised a program in the Press Club of India as it marks 1000 days of Islamist Umar Khalid being in jail.
The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice to Delhi Police on a plea moved by Sharjeel Imam challenging trial court proceedings against him in two cases for one speech delivered in Jamia Milia Islamia on December 13, 2019.
This matter pertains to the plea files by Tanha against the alleged media leak in his confession statement in relation to the Delhi riots of February 2020.
Partially reversing the trial court order, the Delhi HC bench charged accused Sharjeel Imam, Safoora Zargar and 7 others under different sections related to rioting and unlawful assembly in 2019 Jamia violence case
Justice Pulastya Pramachala said that the involvement of the accused in the riots is proven beyond doubt. ASJ Pramachala pronounced the accused guilty and stated: "I find that charges leveled against all the accused persons, in this case, are proven beyond doubt.

"The case is only at the stage of framing of charges. Therefore, we see no reason to interfere with the impugned order. Needless to say that proceedings have to be as per the judgment in Vijay Madanlal," the Court said.
Tahir Hussain was previously charged in three separate cases in link with the February 2020 violence in Delhi, including the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
