The plea has been moved by three persons, namely Shaheen Abdullah, Amitabh Pande and Deb Mukharji. They have sought direction from the Delhi HC to the ECI to take immediate action, including filing of FIR against the political leaders delivering hate speeches.
According to the High Court, Salim Malik was also involved in a conspiracy to destroy CCTV cameras in the Chand Bagh region during 2020 anti-Hindu riots.
The PIL was filed by advocate Shrikant Prasad. He had submitted before the court that the media was creating “pressure and airing sensational headlines” regarding Arvind Kejriwal's resignation and imposition of presidential rule in Delhi.
Delhi High Court while dismissing the plea seeking extraordinary interim bail in all criminal cases said the court in writ jurisdiction cannot grant extraordinary interim bail in a pending criminal case initiated against a person holding high office.
“No wonder Delhi jails are full. The capacity of Tihar is 10,000, but it has 23,000 inmates. This is because schools are not functioning. Do you understand the correlation?” the High Court bench added.
