Doctors protest

The students and junior doctors continue to protest at the RG Kar Medical College & Hospital over the murder and alleged sexual assault of their female colleague on August 9 in the West Bengal city of Kolkata.

As junior doctors across the country continue their protest demanding security after the Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case, the union health ministry today appealed them to return to work. The govt also assured them all possible efforts to ensure their security.

The doctors who were removed from the healthcare institution included Sandipa Das and Sangeeta Pal.

In a video of the attack on RG Kar Hospital, a man can be heard asking others to go to the seminar room, where the crime had taken place

The accused was identified as Soumik Sen. "I had gone to a public meeting. Later, I also engaged in vandalism along with others. I have committed a mistake," he was heard saying.

It is alleged that the state sought time to allegedly derail the evidence and create hindrances in the central investigation

The draft bill was first formulated in September 2019 to address cases of violence against healthcare professionals and damage to hospitals and clinics.

"It has happened that the cops entered the bathroom and asked us to provide space to hide)," a nurse told ABP Ananda.

Assuring fast action in the case, Governor Bose said "We will work together, I will devote myself to your service, This Bengal society, should be made a society where a woman could live happily."

Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal has accused online media outlets and social media accounts of instigating the unprovoked attack by the mob.
