The drug bust was jointly conducted by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The drugs seized included 562 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of marijuana.
In the first vehicle, a Renault Kwid with registration number MZ01N-3642, investigators discovered 32.013 kilogrammes of suspected methamphetamine worth Rs 4,14,16,900 and 249 grammes of suspected heroin worth Rs 7,47,000. The driver, Lalthansiama, 26, of Khawmawi, Myanmar, was detained.
Following the drug bust, NCB Deputy Director General (operations) Gyaneshwar Singh said, “He (Sadiq) is the kingpin of the India-Australia-New Zealand drug trafficking network, which we were probing.
