On Sunday (3rd March), leaders of the protesting farmer unions announced that the protesting farmers will hold a nationwide 'rail roko' protest from 12 PM to 4 pm on 10th March.
The development came after the farmer protest took a violent turn on the resumption of the Delhi Chalo march on February 21, after a brief halt. Notably, clashes broke out between protesting farmers trying to break barricades and create tear gas of their own and security forces deployed at the Punjab-Haryana border, particularly the Khanauri border.
Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda invited the farmers for the fifth round of talks saying that govt is ready to discuss all issues including MSP demand
The farmers in the Punjab Haryana border who are gearing up to reach Delhi to talk to the government over the guaranteed MSP issues, have begun donning gas masks and fortified gear to face the police. This is a week after the farmers failed to cross the border given the heavy police presence.
The posters raised by the COBI members read “Industries and workers of Bahadurgarh humbly request our farmer brothers not to gather and take away our means of livelihood (Bahdurgarh ke udyogon aur karmchariyon kii taraf se kisan bhaiyon se vinamra prarthna hai ki yahan ekatrit hokar hamare pait par laat na maarein).
The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait also alleged that a conspiracy has been hatched to kill four of them and create disturbances during their tractor rally.
