The Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Fast Track Court, Varanasi on Friday dismissed the Hindu side's plea for an additional survey by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) at the Gyanvapi complex.
A district court in Varanasi has directed that the keys to the "Vyas ji ka tehkhana" basement in the Gyanvapi complex be handed over to the district magistrate.
Supreme Court allowed the cleaning of the 'wazukhana' inside the disputed Gyanvapi mosque where the ‘Shivling’ was found on May 16, 2022, during a court-mandated survey.
“We submitted the report in a sealed cover in the court today. The court has fixed December 21 as the next date to look into the report,” said advocate Amit Srivastava, representing the ASI, in Varanasi. The report will be shared with the petitioners on December 21.
Shubhash Nandan Chaturvedi, a lawyer for Hindu petitioners, said that the Varanasi district court gave ASI four weeks to complete its survey, the deadline for which ended on Saturday.
