Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu is the spokesperson of Bangladesh’s Sanatan Jagaran Manch and the chief of Pundarik Dham in Chittagong.

“It is with utter dismay and deep sense of hurt that the Government of Bangladesh notes that the arrest of Sri Chinmoy Krishna Das has been misconstrued by certain quarters since Sri Chinmoy Krishna Das has been arrested on specific charges", the statement reads.

Muslims in Bangladesh are known to evade prosecution under blasphemy laws, just like Pakistan, while the draconian legislation unilaterally targets Hindus and other religious minorities.

Instead of taking legal action against Osman Mollah, the law enforcement authorities took him into 'safe custody.'

The police gave in to the diktat of the local Muslims and arrested two Hindus, namely, Rajesh Chowdhury and Hriday Das, on charges of 'sedition.'

A video of a blindfolded Hridoy Pal being carried on all fours by army officials has surfaced on social media. Muslims could be seen slapping the victim and encouraging others to assault him.

"My father could not have committed suicide. He had been murdered and hung from the tree. No one can die if their feet is touching the ground while hanging from a rope," Jhantu Das told Prothom Alo

Muslims carried out targeted attacks in the form of idol vandalism, desecration and physical attacks on Durga Puja mandaps and pandals. Hindu devotees were stabbed, attacked with stones and intimidated against celebrating the annual festival.

Chittagong Cultural Academy attempted to rationalise the desecration of the puja mandap by claiming that the song was about promoting 'harmony.'

The Buddhist monks accused that the officials were involved in the violence against the minority community in Bangladesh.
