Reports suggest that the arrested illegal immigrants also obtained voter cards and cast votes in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The voter cards were obtained using fake Indian documents.

Last week, 38 illegal immigrants were deported to Myanmar from Manipur, bringing the total number of illegal Myanmarese migrants deported to 77 since 8th March.
According to reports, two of the arrested individuals dressed as women. Initially, the officials assumed them to be transgenders but they later admitted that they disguised themselves as women while leaving the state.
Jaising indicated that no citizenship should be granted under the law as that will affect the minority communities. On asking how would providing citizenship under the law affect minority communities in India, Jaising said, "Because they (Hindus arriving from nearby Islamic countries) will get voting rights..that is how it will affect them (Muslims)."
