Along with his Jor Bagh residence, the ED had also attached properties and bank deposits of Karti Chidambaram worth around Rs.54 crores in connection with the case in October last year.
The CBI had alleged that the concerned officers of the FIPB unit of the Ministry of Finance, by virtue of the influence exercised over them by Karti Chidambaram, ignored the serious illegality on the part of INX Media
Refusing to consider his plea, the court asked Karti's advocate to mention the petition before the bench headed by CJI Gogoi since there is no urgency in the matter.
Both P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram are accused in the INX Media scam which involves charges of bribery and lobbying in granting foreign investments worth Rs 300 crores to INX Media.
The Law Ministry is reported to have told the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) that there was "no legal infirmity" in the agency's request seeking sanction for prosecution against Chidambaram. This view has now been communicated to the CBI as well.
