The US has issued a warning about potential sanctions against any country engaging in business with Iran, hours after India signed a 10-year agreement to operate the Chabahar port in Tehran.
Chabahar Port is strategically important for both Iran and India. It has the potential to aid Tehran avoid the adverse impacts of Western sanctions while also providing New Delhi with an alternative route that avoids Pakistan, which blocks India's land access for trade with Afghanistan and Central Asia.

The top US official also spoke with his counterparts in Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia following Iran's attacks in Israel.
During his phone calls, Blinken emphasised the importance of avoiding escalation in the region and the importance of "a coordinated diplomatic response."
Israel had decided to carry out a retaliatory attack on Tehran, however it was cancelled after a phone call between US President Joe Biden and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the US does not seek conflict with Iran but will not hesitate to act to protect their forces and support Israel's defence.
