"In another unique experiment, like the hop experiment on the Vikram Lander, the Propulsion Module (PM) of Chandrayaan-3 was moved from an orbit around the Moon to an orbit around Earth," the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) stated in its official release.
As a collective mission, Chandrayaan 2 had achieved 95 per cent of its objective. The Chandrayan orbiter had been successfully placed and is expected to work for several years.
The initial designs for the space station, which is still in a nascent stage, suggest a 20-tonne modular abode in the low earth orbit (LEO), at an altitude of 120km to 140km.
