Aafaq Ahmed Khan said, "National President of Janata Dal (United) and Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar has appointed Rajiv Ranjan Prasad as National Spokesperson. K C Tyagi, who was in the party as spokesperson, has resigned from the post, citing personal reasons."
The Minister of State for Finance pointed out that the Special Category Status for Bihar was previously considered in 2012 but it did not fulfill the criteria laid down by the National Development Council.
JDU leader KC Tyagi said, “Such is the game of politics that those who had refused to make Nitish Kumar INDIA bloc’s national convenor have been now making offers to make Nitish PM.”
Amidst efforts by the leaders of the I.N.D.I. Alliance to bring NDA partners TDP and JDU on their side, both NDA allies have extended support to their pre-poll ally.
Notably, the NDA alliance, which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and Janta Dal (United), are leading in Bihar, according to the latest trends issued by the Election Commission of India.
The BJP is set to contest 17 seats, the JD(U) 16, and the LJP (Ram Vilas) five. Additionally, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) will each vie for one seat.
JD(U) MLA Sudhanshu Shekhar filed an FIR claiming that he was offered Rs 5 crores by the party's colleague for switching over to the RJD-led 'Mahagathbandhan' ahead of the trust vote.
