Madras High Court passed an order that could open Pandora's box in response to a PIL about not allowing the entry of non-Hindus during the Kumbabishegam festival of Arulmighu Adikesava Perumal Thirukovil at Thiruvattar
The Madras High Court bench led by Justice SM Subramaniam heard a petition to decide a dispute between two Hindu sects over chanting prayers at the Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple in Tamil Nadu.
After a prolonged trial that lasted almost 13 years in the serial bomb blast case, the Gujarat court delivered its verdict today acquitting 28 of the 77 accused.
“Twenty years of practising arbitrary detention without trial accompanied by torture or ill-treatment is simply unacceptable for any government, particularly a government which has a stated claim to protecting human rights,” the statement by the UN experts has said.
