The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had arrested Mohammed Javed from Udaipur, Rajasthan, on July 22, 2022, 20 days after the brutal beheading of Kanhaiya Lal.
Gauhar Chishti was previously arrested by the police in 2020 for making a video of the CRPF camp, though he was let off at that time with a mere warning.
Supreme Court, while hearing a matter on alleged rising cases of mob lynching in the country, questioned the petitioners why they left out Kanhaiya Lal murder case. Kanhaiya Lal was a Hindu tailor who was lynched by two Islamists for supporting Nupur Sharma.
According to the victim, even though he gave all the details to the police, the Hanuman Chalisa angle was not mentioned in the FIR and the complaint was not even read to him. Later, when he was taken to the district police chief's office, he alleges that he was not heard there either.
Kanhaiya Lal's murderers have not been brought to justice even after one and a half years to the brutal murder. The locals are also miffed about rampant paper leak incidents.
Following Farhad's arrest in July of last year, the NIA issued a statement stating that Farhad was a close associate of the main killer, Riyaz Attari, and was actively involved in the conspiracy to murder tailor Kanhaiya Lal.
Speaking about the collapse of law & order in Rajasthan, he brought up the case of Kanhaiyalal's murder and targeted the Congress govt in the state for failing to take action against the murderers.
