CBI has officially registered an FIR against Dr Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, following orders from the Calcutta High Court.
The Sealdah Court has remanded the main accused in the rape and murder case of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to 14 days of judicial custody, and allowed polygraph test of Dr Sandip Ghosh
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday approached Kolkata High Court for permission to conduct a polygraph test on RG Kar Medical College and Hospital's ex-principal, Dr Sandip Ghosh, and four doctors
According to the allegations, Sandip Ghosh was selling unclaimed dead bodies, trafficking biomedical waste to Bangladeshi contacts, taking 20% commission in every tender, and deliberately failing students to extort money from them.
On the night of the rape and murder of the trainee doctor in RG Kar Medical College, prime accused Sanjay Roy reportedly called Kolkata police ASI Anup Dutta.
While recounting the mob issuing rape threats, she said, “We felt as if the same fate that happened to the victim, for whom we came here to stage a protest, would happen to us. And tomorrow someone else will protest for us. There was no safety and security.”
Notably, the apex court has taken suo moto cognizance of the rape and murder case that took place at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on 9th August.
"There were a lot of policemen with the body (of the victim); the area had become very congested... We were told that there was a chance of the body getting decomposed..." the crematorium manager said.
