Arjun Ram Meghwal had presented a private member bill in the Lok Sabha against the Delhi Court judgement in favour of homosexuality.

In place of Kiren Rijiju, Meghwal has been assigned the independent charge of Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice

Kiren Rijiju said that there is a small number of retired judges and activists who want the judiciary to play the role of an opposition party.

Kiren Rijiju lamented how the Indian Judiciary is routinely criticised on social media, often using abusive language.

"142 proposals recommended by the High Court Collegiums are at various stages of processing. Out of these 142, 4 proposals are pending with the Supreme Court Collegium and 138 are under various stages of processing in the Government," he added.
