The agreement was signed in the presence of the Governor of Catamarca, Lic Raul Jalil; the Vice Governor of Catamarca, Eng Ruben Dusso; the Minister of Mines of Catamarca, Marcelo Murua; and the Ambassador of India to Argentina, Dinesh Bhatia.
Citing a government official, Mint reported that like any other government auction, this will also be open to all, with one key condition: “The government will mandate that lithium is refined only in India and not sent abroad for processing.”
The Geological Survey of India revealed on February 9 that 5.9 million tonnes of estimated lithium resources had been discovered in the Salal-Haimana area of the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, marking the first time that lithium deposits had been discovered in India.
