The previous government, led by BJP had planned to name the Mumbai Nagpur expressway after late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and had even submitted the proposal for the same to then chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. 

The affidavit is connected to several allegations against Ajit Pawar, who was the minister of water resources between 1999 and 2009, including that of escalating costs in 32 irrigation projects in Vidarbha by Rs 17,700 crore within three months.

Cases of cheating and forgery were filed against Fadnavis in 1996 and 1998 by private complainants, but charges had not been framed yet in both the cases. Uke alleged that Fadnavis did not disclose this information in his election affidavit.

There are speculations that former Deputy CM Ajit Pawar could be the Deputy CM in the Uddhav Thackeray led government in Maharashtra. However, Ajit Pawar will not be taking oath alongside Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. 

It is likely that the post of Speaker will be from the NCP, which is also expected to get a fair share of cabinet berths in the new government.
