Sikkalkari Sikhs are the Sikh artisans who had migrated from Punjab to Nanded in the state of Maharashtra during the period of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. At present, many Sikkalkari settlements reside in small huts in several towns in Marathwada region of the state. They are significantly seen in Nanded, Beed, Parbhani, and Hingoli districts.
The FIR has been filed under sections 302, 307, 341, 143, 147, 148, 149 of the Indian Penal Code and section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951. No sections of POCSO have been added though.
Around 100 to 150 people from the specific community attacked 6 people and they could be heard saying, "These are the same people who have filed police complaint. We'll not spare them. They won't go home alive." The mob attacked with sharp weapons including knifes, iron rods, bamboo sticks and swords.
The accused has been booked under sections 354(A)(4) (making sexually colored remarks, which constitutes the offence of sexual harassment), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
