State BJP President Dilip Gosh said that people are being attacked in the State for chanting 'Jai Shri Ram'.

TMC government had also tried to jail people for chanting the 'Jai Sri Ram' slogan. Mamata Banerjee had stated that the slogan is inciting violence and it does not belong to Bengal.

However, the Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla did not accept the breach of privilege motion submitted by the Trinamool MP.

These protests are being organised in a bid to put pressure on the state administration to prevent the Friday Namaz on roads which block traffic.

Locals allege that TMC leaders, at the grassroots, have been taking 'cut money', or 'illegal commissions' to facilitate the grant of Central and State government schemes.

Almost all major hospitals and medical colleges had joined the protests against the Mamata government. The protests were only halted after CM Mamata Banerjee visited the doctors personally and assured safety and security at hospitals.
