After the AAP took office in Delhi in 2015, the CBI claimed in its report that a spying unit led by Manish Sisodia had been established. The CBI report was deemed politically motivated by the AAP, who denied the accusations.
The CBI had sought sanction to register an FIR against Sisodia, who heads the Vigilance department of the Delhi government, under which the AAP government had in 2015 surreptitiously created the FBU- an Extra Constitutional-Extra Judicial Intelligence Agency to allegedly spy on different Ministries, Opposition political parties, entities and individuals.
On January 14, Sisodia had claimed raids were going on at his office and challenged the probe agency to investigate as much as they want and claimed he is innocent.
It is worth noting that the political war of words began after the Directorate of Information and Publicity served a notice on Arvind Kejriwal, the National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, requiring him to pay up to Rs 163 crores within 10 days.
