UN body slams Imran Khan govt stating that their discriminatory legislation has led to attacks on religious minorities by people with "extremist mindsets".
The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 has now become an act of law after President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to the historic legislation on Thursday.
The refugees said that they have come to India nearly a decade back with a valid visa issued by the Indian government. The refugees added that they had to leave their relatives in Pakistan and come to India because religious persecution in the Islamic nation had made their lives difficult.
Many residents of Majnu Ka Tila in the national capital said that the bill if cleared, will help them get Indian citizenship and finally bring an end to their life in exile.
The proposed legislation applies to those who were forced to seek shelter in India due to persecution on the ground of religion. It aims to protect such people from proceedings of illegal migration.
The Larkana police had allegedly sent the dupatta that was tied around Nimrita's neck to the DNA lab after a week. The lab report has stated that no DNA could be recovered from the crucial piece of evidence.
