An old letter that looks like a mercy petition for terrorist Yakub Memon, dated 28th July 2015, signed by a Congress candidate from Mira Bhayander seat of Mumbai, Syed Muzzafar Hussain is making rounds on social media. Memon played a crucial role in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts.
The video of the incident is making rounds on social media in which more than a dozen of the alleged accused persons can be seen attacking the Hindus for bursting firecrackers and celebrating Diwali. Thane Police has taken cognizance of the incident confirming that the attack happened.
The incident is said to have happened in the JP North society in Mumbai's Mira Road region. The accused aged 18 has been booked an arrested by the Navghar Police Station under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO, 2012.
The FIR has been filed under sections 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
The local Hindu groups demanded removal of goats from the society concerning the civic health of the residents. The Hindus also filed an official complaint at the Kashigao Police Station, but the same is yet to be registered as an FIR.
The police have filed an FIR under sections 376 and 376(3) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and sections 4 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012. Also sections 3(1)(w)(i) and 3(1)(w)(ii) of the SC/ST Act, 1989 have been imposed against the accused.

The accused runs a chicken shop close to the Orange Hospital on Mira Road and was known to the victim. He used to offer her chocolates despite objections by her father.
