In an order released by Assistant Commissioner, North Delhi Municipal Corporation has announced that the encroachment drive will be carried out on illegal construction in the area of April 20 and 21 in Jahangirpuri.
The Jahangirpuri police station registers one case every six hours. Reportedly, the area is also one of the top 10 in Delhi for robberies. In 2021, the police station registered 1,130 cases, while in 2022, the number was 439 in the first three months.
"I want to say this in open public. Hindus and Muslims have lived together in peace. The problem in our area, if I come straight to the point, is the Bangladeshi Muslims who have started living here.” said BJP councilor Garima Gupta during the meeting.
The victims of the recent Karauli communal clashes, where the mob mercilessly attacked Hindus on the day of the Hindu new year, said they do not feel safe in Karauli and planning to move to other secure location with their families.
