The meeting on Manipur Violence was held at Raisina Hill’s North Block. Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the meeting. Army Chief General Manoj Pande and Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla were among the key officials present at the meeting. Notably, CM N Biren Singh was not a part of the meeting.
"It's not a small case, 60kgs of drug(heroin) being trafficked over one year by just one network is a huge case", the DGP said, adding that almost 400 crores rupees of drugs trafficked by just one network is huge.
"Law enforcement authorities have seized a staggering Rs 10 crore worth of heroin and apprehended three smugglers in a carefully orchestrated operation based on intelligence from the Superintendent of Police of North District", Tripura police informed.
Over 1,44,000 kilogram of drugs worth Rs 2,416 crore was destroyed in various parts of the country by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in coordination with Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTFs) of all states in the presence of the Home Minister in the event.
The narcotics were allegedly dropped at sea by a cargo ship, to be picked up by traffickers and transported to the mainland, where they might be sold for hundreds of millions of dollars. According to authorities, the signalling gadget was probably used to monitor the packages.
