On October 9 the Hindu community in the Mominpore locality of Kolkata in West Bengal came under attack as they geared up to celebrate the annual Lakshmi Puja. Bikes and shops belonging to Hindus were vandalized by Islamists at Maila Depot in Mominpore.
Bihar-based operative of the banned outfit translated "Jihadi literature from Urdu/Arabic to Hindi" and uploaded it on social media groups for its circulation amongst impressionable Muslims."
According to the NIA chargesheet, the four men also raised funds, recruited other terrorists and encouraged them to work towards the goal of establishing Islamic rule in the country by 2047.
Residence of Muhammad Rashid, the PFI state secretary, is being searched in Pathanamthitta. The residence of Nizar, a member of the state committee, is also being raided.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried out searches at 56 locations in Kerala in the Popular Front of India (PFI) conspiracy case.
"They are involved in carrying out terrorist attacks by using cyber-space in Jammu and Kashmir, targeting of minorities, security personnel and spreading communal disharmony," NIA said.
