The 18-month ruling coalition between Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress came to an end on 28th January when CM Nitish Kumar tendered his resignation to the Governor.

When asked about reports that the BJP is reuniting with Nitish Kumar's JD(U), Bihar BJP chief Samrat Choudhary said, "No such thing has been discussed at our level."

It is being speculated that Nitish Kumar will take oath as CM of JD(U)-BJP govt with Sushil Modi as the deputy CM on Sunday.
