The Kapilendra Deva of the Suryavamsi Gajapati dynasty is credited for liberating the modern-day Telangana from the clutches of tyrannical Bahamani Sultanate rule.
Even while the rest of India celebrated independence on 15th August 1947, the people of Telangana had to wait for over 13 months to free themselves from the shackles of Nizam’s tyrannical rule.
There exists an urban legend that the Nizam Mir Osman Ali of Hyderabad had donated 5000 kgs of gold to the Indian government to help in Indo-China war.
