The first ever BJP government in Odisha was scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy on 10th June, but now it has been postponed to 12th June.

Announcing his decision, VK Pandian said, “My intent of joining politics was only to assist Naveen Babu and I have consciously decided to withdraw myself from active politics. I am sorry if this campaign narrative against me has had a part to play in BJD's loss.

Naveen Patnaik lost to Laxman Bag by a margin of 16,000 votes. The latter lost in 2014 and 2019 but managed to win in 2024.

BJD had promised cash 'scholarships' to all college students, Rs 14,000 for girls and Rs 12,000 for boys, free electricity and much more.

PM Modi highlighted the historic feat noting that this is for the first time since 1962 that a government has returned to power for the third consecutive time.

In an unprecedented development, Naveen Patnaik was defeated in the Kantabanji seat during the state assembly elections even as the BJP is on the verge of creating history by forming a government in Odisha.

If the trends don’t reverse it will transform state politics, ushering in a post-Naveen era, which has been the buzz among political circles.

PM Modi also announced that after forming the government, the BJP will form a special committee to probe the suspicion around CM Patnaik’s health and if there is any conspiracy behind it. 

In his election rallies, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been reiterating that “Tamil babu is running the Naveen Babu government from backdoor” adding that BJP wants to restore Odia pride and would make Odia leader the Chief Minister of the state.
