The Kanpur police on Sunday said that they will record the statement of the victim, who had earlier had accused the police officer of advising her to follow Sharia law and accept the triple talaq given to her by the husband.
In her complaint, the woman said her husband returned from Saudi. While the woman was expecting a compromise from her husband, she was informed that her husband had married a 17-year-old-girl.
UP CM added that the educated women should be absorbed in government jobs as per their qualifications while arrangements will also be made for providing them shelter and education under various schemes.
Ramzan Khan, the father of the victim has alleged that his son-in-law Nafees (26), who worked in Mumbai had pronounced triple talaq to Sayeeda over the phone.
The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi championing the social cause of Muslim women had initiated the process of legislation to ban "Triple Talaq" after the historic Supreme Court judgement declaring the barbaric Islamic practise as unconstitutional.
The victim’s father said his daughter had a strained relationship with her husband since the time she got married. He said that Sabir had previously also thrashed Zainab and hit her with a stick on her head.
