PFI banned by Modi govt

Binay Singh has come up with a new book named 'The Elastic War: Story of Popular Front of India', detailing previously undisclosed facts about outlawed PFI.

Mohammad Sohail is the Udaipur district president of SDPI, the political wing of the Islamist organisation Popular Front of India (PFI) which has been banned in various states for extremist activities.

Earlier this month, the NIA detained Muhammed Sadik, a fruit seller employed by PFI to gather info on RSS, BJP events.

The Police also said that the arrested PFI jihadis were part of a WhatsApp group that is administered from Pakistan. The group consisting of around 175 members from India, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Afghanistan discussed conspiracy to carry out destructive activities in the country.

Delhi Police raised preliminary objection over maintainability of the petitions and said habeas corpus pleas cannot stand as most of the petitioners have been released on bail.

The NIA has refuted reports that said Kerala Police officers informed PFI cadres about the impending raids.

Government of India banned the Islamist organisation PFI and its associated outfits with immediate effect on September 28.

There have been instances of PFI members being killed or arrested on foreign land and then deported back to India, according to the NIA
