On 26th September, Khedkar's lawyer requested additional time from the court to prepare a response to the UPSC's charge that she committed fraud by giving a false statement about her anticipatory release plea. She claimed her "debarment" was the result of her sexual harassment complaint against an officer.

UPSC on Wednesday cancelled the provisional candidature of Puja Khedkar, a provisionally recommended candidate of the Civil Services Examination-2022 and permanently debarred her from all future exams and selections.
UPSC said on Friday that it has registered a FIR against IAS probationer Puja Manorama Dilip Khedkar for allegedly "faking her identity to fraudulently avail attempts beyond permissible limit"
The official said, “Women police personnel visited Khedkar at her residence in Washim on Monday when she lodged a complaint of harassment against Pune district collector Suhas Diwase.”
As per information given by Arvind Bhore, Director of Shrimati Kashibai Navale Medical College and General Hospital, Puja had secured a seat for the MBBS course in the college through the Association of Management of Unaided Private Medical and Dental Colleges of Maharashtra (AMUPDMC) entrance test and had scored 146 marks out of 200. She was enrolled in the college's first batch in 2007.
