Amid reports of demographic changes in various areas of Uttarakhand, the government of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has started taking action. The police have started a 'verification campaign' to verify the people living in the state.
The Uttarakhand government is set to table the 'Uttarakhand Public and Private Property Damage Recovery Bill' in the assembly during the upcoming budget session
Speaking at a public event in Haridwar, CM Dhami stated, "The spot where our police personnel, especially women personnel and journalists were brutally attacked and assaulted by an unruly mob for doing their duty, we will build a police station.
The Bill says that the relationship between a man and a woman can be termed legitimate or illegitimate based on social norms, but a child is never 'illegitimate'.
Referring to this, CM Dhami posted on X, "With the aim of giving equal rights to the citizens of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, a Uniform Civil Code bill will be introduced in the Assembly today. It is a moment of pride for all the people of the state that we will be known as the first state in the country to move towards implementing UCC".
The Uttarakhand Cabinet on Sunday approved the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) report in a meeting held at the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's residence.
