Quad summit

Terming the Quad as a "force of Global Good" the Quad leaders made a number of announcements to address the development priorities of the Indo-Pacific region and of the global community as a whole.

The Quad Summit on Saturday in Delaware is poised to announce the expansion of their joint maritime security operations in the Indian Ocean and closer coastguard integration throughout the Indo-Pacific.

The QUAD meeting was hosted by Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Hiroshima in Japan

A Ministry of External Affairs release said that Prime Minister Modi will have bilateral engagements in Papua New Guinea, including meetings with Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae and Prime Minister James Marape.

"By Japan and India coming together in this way, this 'broader Asia' will evolve into an immense network spanning the entirety of the Pacific Ocean, incorporating the United States of America and Australia. Open and transparent, this network will allow people, goods, capital, and knowledge to flow freely", Abe had told Indian parliament back in 2007.

PM Modi is in Japan to attend the Quad leaders' meeting with his counterparts from Japan, USA and Australia.

PM Modi follows a regular pattern during his foreign visits to save time and resources.
