Hindu devotees recited 'Hanuman Chalisa' in response to the opposition by the group. Soon after, the Ram Navami immersion procession was attacked with stones
A day after Islamists ran riots and pelted stones on a Ram Navami procession in Howrah, West Bengal, a fresh round of violence was reported from the area today.
In a tweet, Amit Malviya said, "VHP had all the permissions for taking out the Ramanavami Shobha Yatra from BE College to Ramkrishnapur Ghat. They were on the approved route."
Suspecting that the attack was pre-planned, Bajrang Dal leader Ketan Trivedi said that when the Ram Navami procession was passing through the area, suddenly a Muslim man brought a bike without a number plate and hit a car involved in the procession.
Though the attacks on Ram Navami processions by Islamists are not a new thing, it is notable that such incidents are reported in more numbers in the last 3-4 years.
