A day after Islamists ran riots and pelted stones on a Ram Navami procession in Howrah, West Bengal, a fresh round of violence was reported from the area today.
Though the attacks on Ram Navami processions by Islamists are not a new thing, it is notable that such incidents are reported in more numbers in the last 3-4 years.
The attacks on Ram Navami processions have become alarmingly common in the last few years, with Lord Ram devotees being held responsible for the Islamist attacks.
The procession was attacked as it passed by the Masjid near the gate no 7 area. The radical mob pelted stones and also injured the participants in the procession.
The report added that provisions are being made to prevent any law and order situation, which may arise after the Jumma Namaz is conducted. It further stated that the police and administration in West Bengal and Gujarat are taking precautionary steps to avoid untoward incidents after the Friday prayers.
