The court issued contempt notices to the Bengal state govt over not handing over Sandeshkhali violence accused TMC strongman Shahjahan Sheikh to the CBI.

Speaking at Barasat, PM Modi stated that the women of Bengal have been a beacon of hope and progress for the entire country. "The 'Shakti Swaroopa' women of the state have been leading the country in various fields. But the TMC rule has caused torture, shame, and harassment for women in the state", PM stated.

The West Bengal police which is handling the case of TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan has refused to hand over his custody to the central probe agency

On Tuesday, March 5, the Calcutta High Court dismissed the SIT formed to probe the arrest of TMC strongman Sheikh Shahjahan and handed over the probe to the CBI.

"State Police filed false cases of molesting women by ED officers. This is the case, where the State Police wanted to implicate ED Officers in false cases," the CBI said.

The fact-finding team was initially stopped by state administration on 25th February while they were going to Sandeshkhali.

BJP MP Dilip Ghosh said about Sandeshkhali that "goons and rapists are present in every nook and corner" of the state and are "being protected under the flag" of the ruling party.

In his public address at Krishnanagar, PM Modi said that while the women of Sandeshkahli "cried out for justice," the ruling party in the State "looked elsewhere."

PM Narendra Modi said, "Top leaders in the I.N.D.I. alliance have shut their eyes, ears, and mouths when it comes to talking about the Sandeshkhali issue."

People in Sandeshkhali who once cultivated their food grains, rice and other staple food in these lands are now forced to purchase grains from shops at exorbitant prices.
