IAF brought back 246 Indians from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on C17 Globemaster aircraft after they were evacuated from Sudan

India's Defence Attache to Saudi Arabia, Col GS Grewal, assured countrymen being evacuated from strife-torn Sudan through Saudi Arabia that they will be safely taken back to their homeland. 

The evacuation operation started in Port Sudan. Till now, an estimated 300-500 Indian citizens have been evacuated by ship and other evacuation processes are going on. 

A WHO representative said that fighters have occupied a central public laboratory holding samples of diseases including polio and measles in war torn Sudan

Millions of residents are trapped inside their homes in Sudan, many running low on water and food after the eruption of fighting on April 15 between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group. 

Two Indian Air Force C-130J have been stationed in Saudi Arabia's Jeddah and an Indian navy vessel has reached Port Sudan, to evacuate Indians from Sudan

A total of 91 Saudi citizen and 66 nationals of other countries, including Indians, were evacuated from Sudan by Saudi Arabia by ships

Recently, at least 20 Umrah pilgrims were killed and 29 injured after a bus crashed southwest of Saudi Arabia, Dubai-based Gulf News reported.
