Eyewitnesses in Delhi's riot-hit areas claim that Muslims had prepared for the attack on Hindus for long. In Brijpuri area, they say, a Muslim owner of a bike showroom had removed all the bikes to a safer location and had vandalised his own shop to claim victimhood.
The deceased policeman has been identified as Head Constable Ratan Lal. He lost his life during the violence in North East Delhi after he was injured during the stone-pelting in the anti-CAA protests.
On February 10, the apex court had observed that there must be a designated site to carry out such protests and raised concerns about whether public inconvenience can be caused by blocking roads indefinitely.
