The Rouse Avenue court has taken cognisance of Defamation complaint filed against Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. This complaint has been filed by BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

Stating that the HC found "no grounds to quash the proceedings at this stage," the bench of Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta instructed the parties to appear before the trial court on September 10. In 2020, the Delhi High Court had stayed proceedings against Tharoor.

Congress' P Chidambaram took cognizance of the event and targeted the govt for taking so long to abolish the so-called tax. He said that the Congress had pleaded for the abolition of the angel tax and finally the Finance Minister announced it today. Ironically, it was Congress who had made changes in the Income Tax Act to introduce the Angel Tax.

"I think that's a good tradition of inviting the neighbouring countries. But this time there's one less. He has not invited Pakistan. So again, that also sends a signal..." Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said.

"I am telling you that the elections of 87 were a huge mistake and they were rigged undoubtedly and undoubtedly this was certainly one of the mistakes that sparked off the disillusionment of some young people who then became militants," Shashi Tharoor said in 2017

Apart from demanding an investigation, Shashi Tharoor didn’t condemn the remarks of his party colleague Vijay Wadettiwar who had called Ujjwal Nikam, the former senior public prosecutor who fought the case against Kasab, a "traitor who suppressed the fact". 

According to the Police, the case has been filed against Shashi Tharoor based on a complaint lodged by BJP leader J R Padmakumar. The BJP leader accused Tharoor of carrying out a false campaign against Rajeev Chandrasekhar during a television program.

Karan Thapar has seemingly admitted the veracity and content of the purported chat with Jai Anant Dehardai regarding Shashi Tharoor and alleged that his message was ‘distorted’ and ‘misconstrued’.

In his post on X, Jai Anant Dehadrai said "Karan Thapar is a twisted and corrupt monster - the suave and articulate exterior is a scam. Went out of his way to protect dirty Shashi from me, in the hotel molestation incident of 11th October 2022 - rather than supporting the victim. Lutyens filth is astounding."
