The chant of Jai Shri Ram has become one of political upheaval in West Bengal with TMC goons lashing out at those chanting it

The shocking incident took place on a day the Trinamul rallied support behind a section of activists for writing an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging intolerance across the country.

West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh had claimed that over 72 party workers have been reportedly killed between April and July this year.

State BJP President Dilip Gosh said that people are being attacked in the State for chanting 'Jai Shri Ram'.

TMC government had also tried to jail people for chanting the 'Jai Sri Ram' slogan. Mamata Banerjee had stated that the slogan is inciting violence and it does not belong to Bengal.

Almost all major hospitals and medical colleges had joined the protests against the Mamata government. The protests were only halted after CM Mamata Banerjee visited the doctors personally and assured safety and security at hospitals.

Bombs were hurled and several bullets were fired in the air during the clash between the two groups near a newly constructed police station, which was scheduled for inauguration on Thursday.
