Sunil Singh joining the BJP was on the cards as his brother-in-law Arjun Singh, who was earlier a Trinamool MLA of Bhatpara and chairman of the Bhatpara municipality, had also left the party to become a BJP MP. Arjun Singh was given BJP ticket from Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency.
The Bengal Health Crisis is into its seventh day. After antagonizing the medical fraternity with her threats, Mamata Banerjee will finally be meeting with representatives of various medical institutions at 3.00 p.m. on Monday.
The protesting junior doctors have now agreed to meet Mamata Banerjee at 3:00 PM today. However, the doctors have said that the meeting would have to be “in the full view of the media” and not “behind closed doors”.
There are videos circulating on social media which purportedly show the Trinamool MP from Murshidabad, Abu Taher Khan threatening the doctors at the institution. The politician, however, has denied all allegations.
Joining the doctors' strike, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), which has 3.5 lakh doctors as its members, has also declared a pan-India strike starting on 17th June from 6 am till 6 am on 18th June.
