Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi had called Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and gave his best wishes for the safe evacuation of 41 workers from the Silkyara tunnel.
A team from Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) is now on standby mode to initiate vertical drilling from top of the Silkyara-Barkot tunnel to rescue the trapped 41 labourers
During the drilling on Friday evening, a mesh of rods came in front of the machine, due to which the blades of the Auger machine got stuck in the mesh of the rods.
A broad pipe has been paid till 45 metres. A 41-bed hospital has been readied at the community health centre in Chinyalisaur for immediate medical assistance for the rescued workers.
The rescue team has begun the process of laying a pipeline inside the Silkyara Tunnel, and communication was established with indvidual workers to get a health update from them.
International tunneling expert, Professor Arnold Dix reached the Silkyara tunnel and conducted a survey where 41 workers have been stuck since 12th November.
