A team from Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) is now on standby mode to initiate vertical drilling from top of the Silkyara-Barkot tunnel to rescue the trapped 41 labourers
During the drilling on Friday evening, a mesh of rods came in front of the machine, due to which the blades of the Auger machine got stuck in the mesh of the rods.
A broad pipe has been paid till 45 metres. A 41-bed hospital has been readied at the community health centre in Chinyalisaur for immediate medical assistance for the rescued workers.
The rescue team has begun the process of laying a pipeline inside the Silkyara Tunnel, and communication was established with indvidual workers to get a health update from them.
The rescue efforts in Uttarkashi tunnel have encountered various challenges, with intermittent pauses attributed to factors such as fumes produced by the diesel-driven machinery, vibrations, and technical malfunctions in drilling equipment.
