Wrestlers protest

The counsel for BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan argued on the point of charges in sexual harassment case that hugging or touching a woman without a sexual intent is not an offence.

Delhi police had filed a charge sheet against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Vinod Tomar on June 15. This case was registered on a complaint lodged by women wrestlers.

According to the charge sheet, Vinod Tomar "intentionally" and "purposefully" prevented the husband in one case and the coach in the other from accompanying the complainants when they went to meet Brij Bhushan

The wrestlers have stated that their fight will continue until they get justice, but the contest will be in court, legally, not on the streets.

In a video posted on Twitter, wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt said that the protesting wrestlers were away from the mat for nearly a year adding that such an exemption would be unfair to the rest of the wrestlers.

The father of a minor wrestler who had filed a complaint against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has admitted to a television channel that he has "corrected" the statement as he had filed a false complaint against him "out of anger".
