Following controversies surrounding the digital attendance system, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday decided to form an expert committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to address the problems and suggestions of teachers.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hailed the BJP-led state government’s success on the law and order front and emphasised that the state has been freed from mafias.
The protesting teachers have demanded that they be given half-day leave, as other state employees are, and that they be given 30 earned days of leave, as state employees or PL, as college teachers.
The six suspended officials were identified as Dhruv Aggarwal, Anuj Deshwal and Prabhat Pandey, Anand Kumar Dubey, Rajendra Kumar Yadav and Mohammad Shahid.
Muslim religious leaders backed the Chief Minister's appeal, leading to Eid prayers held exclusively at designated Eidgahs and other traditional locations. In areas where mosques and Eidgahs had limited space, prayers were conducted in different shifts.
The BJP's decision of heavily relying on the charisma of national leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath did not resonate as effectively this time. The opposition's focused and localised campaign strategy, highlighting specific regional issues and addressing the concerns of various communities, proved to be more effective in garnering votes.
